Reacting sharply to fixing of April 26 as the next day of hearing to the bail application of its incarcerated chairman, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has said that though Shabir Ahmad Shah is not needed for any questioning yet he is kept behind bars only to punish him for his political stance over Kashmir dispute. The party said that Indian judiciary is indulging in denying justice to Shabir Shah by delaying it. “To discuss the continuous imprisonment of Shabir Shah and the concocted case against him, the DFP convened an executive meeting which was presided over by party Secretary General Moulana Mohammad Abdullah Tari,” reads a statement issued by the party. While addressing the meeting Moulana Tari said that a Delhi court on Tuesday directed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to file its reply to a fresh bail plea of Shabir Shah by February 26. The so called investigation by ED has been completed and the court is yet to decide about the so called charges against Shabir Shah however the senior resistance leader is behind the bars even without proving any allegation against him. The court was informed that earlier his bail was rejected on the ground that he can hamper the probe but when it is over there was no chance for Shabir Shah to hamper the probe. DFP meeting while strongly condemned the continuous incarceration of its chief, said that his better half who met him recently has expressed serious concerns over his deteriorating health conditions. DFP reiterated its demand of providing suitable medical aid to the ailing leader who is suffering from many and serious ailments in the infamous Tihar jail. Shabir Shah’s falling health has not only caused worries to his family but to party and his admirers as well.
